Electrolysis Hair Removal
Now available in our Cheltenham Hair and Beauty Salon. Developed over 20 years ago Electrolysis is the only permanent method of unwanted hair removal. The Therapist slips a thin metal probe into the hair follicle; insertion does not puncture the skin. A tiny current is then passed into each hair follicle, which causes localised damage to stop the blood supply to the hair follicle. Approved by the FDA.
difference between laser and electrolysis?
Electrolysis targets hair follicle individually by using a very tiny, throw away, sterilized probe, which will permanently destroy the follicles ability to produce new growth. This can sometimes take place over a long period but guarantees total success on the area treated at the end of the course.
With Laser, although quicker as larger areas can be treated at once, there is no guarantee the hair growth will not reappear and therefore it is usually described as “hair reduction” and will require further treatment when hair growth returns.
Where can I have Electrolysis?
You can have Electrolysis almost anywhere except inside the ear and the inside of the nostrils. The most commonly treated areas are the face, neck, chest, and bikini line. Electrolysis can be used pre SRS surgery with Transsexuals to completely remove all facial hair.
Is it painful?
Most people describe the sensation as a gentle warming feeling; the sensation can change slightly depending on the region receiving treatment.
How do I go
Contact the salon to arrange a consultation where our Electrolysis technician will carry out a thorough analysis of your needs, find the most suitable method to use and also the timings most appropriate for your treatments.
How long will it take?
This you would need to discuss this on your consultation, as it depends highly on the area being treated and the hair density. You will need to have regular sessions as the hair follicles need to be treated when actively growing, this can run in cycles, but you will see progress throughout your treatments. Sessions can last from as little as 10 minutes to an hour.
What effect will treatment leave?
Some slight reddishness and possibly swelling for a very short period after, which normally, totally disappears the following day. If the follicles being treated are in-grown you may find small pinprick scabs form and may last a few days.
