How To Look After Your Nails
Good healthy nails make for stunning hands. Here is some simple advice to make sure your nails are always in peak condition.
Try to strengthen your nails
if your nails are weak, avoid letting them grow too long. Shape them square and quite short. Use a cream especially for nails to stop them from cracking. Your diet can have an effect on the health of your nails. Try to eat a healthy balanced diet. Avoid washing your hands in hot water.
Care for your nails
don’t cut always file your nails. You need to look after your cuticles routinely to help keep your nails healthy. These tiny bits of skin that look after the end of the nail get damaged easily. After you’ve used a special nail care cream, gently ease back your cuticles with something like a cotton bud. Stating the obvious, remember not to bite your nails.
Protect your nails
Use products that are designed specifically to protect them:
care for brittle nails with strengthening and hardening creams etc;
look after nails that have broken with a strengthening creams etc;
use replenishing varnish on overly dry nails.
Wear glove when you do anything that might risk damaging your nauls
Nail beauty
get rid of all traces of old nail products with an acetone-free remover.
Wash each hand immediately so that the remover doesn’t stay on your nails for very long.
Soak your hands in warm, soapy water for minute.
Remove all the dead skin from around your nails.
After they dry soak them in warm olive oil to replenish and strengthen them
then use a nail buffer over them, this will make your nails shine.
To file your nails, start from the outside and work towards the centre, always in the same direction to avoid cracks. Don’t use a metal file these can which damage your nails.
Apply a moisturiser, delicately massaging your hands and nails.
Use a protective base before you apply nail varnish. Choose your nail varnish carefully some cheaper brands and fast drying varnishes can damage your nails
